Week 7~ The Shopping Begins!

As we anxiously await our ultrasound next week ~ and our "for real" due date.  We've accomplished alot this week!

Boy and girls name have been decided upon~ this will be a surprise to everyone...only Troy and Grandma Diane know.  We just hate experiences in the past where expecting parents will tell someone their name and it ends up "reminding them of that fat girl in high school", etc.  Bleh.

Our first trip to Baby Gap was a success- we found some maternity clothes for me for our Florida trip and super cute onesies that say "I love Mommy", "I love Daddy", and "Born to Ride".  :)  Ben about shit when realized that yes onesies really do cost $15.00 @ Baby Gap.

We are hitting Baby Depot and Slumberland this weekend to do some crib shopping.  :)  And are beginning to tackle the guest bedroom to transform it into our baby room.  We've decided to find out the sex ahead of time so baby room decor can take place (**Aunt Teri has already kinda volunteered if it's a girl)!!!  yay!!

Can't wait till next week's post to be able to blog about actually seeing our little one this time and knowing our actual due date!

Till next week!
All our love,
Ben, Shannon and Baby B

Update: 3-10-11....Ben's Bday Present to Me!

Wanted to give you all a quick update to yesterday's Blog....hcg levels were only at 538 at the time of our hospital visit (indicating 1-2 weeks - NOT 4 WKS AS THE ER DOC HAD THOUGHT)...as of yesterday hcg levels are at 8000!  (PS- Amazing to me pregnant moms hormone levels will hit nearly 100,000 before giving birth!!!)  No wonder we are a mess! The fact my levels are increasing is Great News and means everything is right on schedule.  PRAISE GOD!

OB's can't see the baby usually till your hcg is 10,000 or higher.  Looking like I'm 5 weeks along as apposed to 6 and as Lizzy pointed out today....conceived on my birthday!  LOL...didn't realize that till now.  Some of our members had made jokes about it around Kosama...looks as if its true.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!  Ben...what a gift!  :)

Have a great week everyone!

Our First Ultrasound~ ha ha He didn't "NAIL IT ON THE FIRST TRY"...IT WAS THE SECOND! :)

We arrive at our first OB appointment today @ 1:20pm~ after a series of questions from our nurse, some blood draws, etc that all new mommy's experience....we headed to the ultrasound room.

We tried to see the little one from the outside, but beings that I have a tipped uterus (evidently... lol) they had to use the "wand"....to which my man was just itching to make sexual comments about.  :)  Needless to say we established that HE NAILED IT ON THE SECOND TRY, NOT THE FIRST....and I am about 4 weeks along as apposed to 6!  Ha Ha Ben!  :) Those man bullets are impressive but not made of steal! He laughs and blames it on me of course~ ahh our relationship is just cute!

We couldn't see much from the ultrasound as you can tell~ except the place that the very lil one is growing (called the gestational sack)...our next ultrasound is in 4 weeks on April 6th~ the day before we leave for Florida!  They better be sending me off with good news!  My doc did however take my blood, and will give me a call tomorrow (thank God) with my hcg levels~ to ensure me they are is ok and increasing as they should.  She delivered Troy 15 years ago and knows I am "the nervous type"!

*Note we did have a moment where we had a visit to the ER 2 weeks back- the ER PA said my blood levels were at 4 weeks then.  Long story short- my hcg/blood levels were pretty high for a mom only in her 2nd week/ not 4th @ that time!  Hmm....still hoping for just one! :)

Me being the hormonal mess that I am.... and not getting to see the heartbeat or my little peanut for that matter~ cried, asked a billion questions today like "is everything ok?", was offered a kleenex~ only for my doc to ensure me that all is ok, she's not worried.... and explained this happens frequently (that the exact day the mom thinks she conceived is too early and it ends up not being "on schedule" as previously thought).

So Baby B will more than likely be a November baby as apposed to Halloween....and in 4 weeks at our next ultrasound we will get to hear the heartbeat and get measured for a more exact due date.  Troy predicts, 11-11-11!

**Question to my new moms out there....did you opt for the pregnancy screens to determine Downs Syndrom and other chromosomal abnormalities?  Our gut is telling us no because is it really going to change anything? No. We will have the baby regardless.  Lots of "scares" that as a 18 year mom I was not as sensitive to.**

We are praying lots, learning how to give this whole new mommy thing to God~ as He is the creator of life~ not us~ I am just his vessel.  Please keep us in your prayers as we go thru this exciting, yet stressful journey to parenthood!

Love,
Ben, Shannon and Baby B!

**PS:  MY HAPPIEST MOMENT OF THE DAY WAS WHEN I CAME HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE TO FIND BEN, CUDDLED UP IN BED READING ONE OF MY PREGNANCY BOOKS~ (PINK COVER AND ALL). JENNY MCARTHY'S "BELLY LAUGHS"!  Where did I find this guy?  Amazing!

"He Nailed it on the First Try!".... HELLO BABY B! :)

So this is my first BLOG ever~ hard to believe for most of you that know my mad Facebook addiction!  But thought we would give it a try for all of Ben's family that live out of state~ to keep up on our fun journey as new parents!

As Ben and I have made perfectly clear- our relationship has always been "out of order" and we don't tend to follow the traditional guidlines of "dating, relationships, etc."  Yep, Ben moved in within our first 6 months of dating, we owned a biz together before our 1 year anniversary arrived, expanded our business just 6 months later, talked about engagement, Ben started ring shopping, we decided to "start trying" and boom- HE NAILED IT ON THE FIRST TRY! :)  Hello Baby B!  *(For the record and to avoid answering the same questions multiple times :):  we will be engaged - when ya gotta ask Ben ?- yep we will get married but not while I'm pregnant- my choice...and before you know it the traditional "order" will all be caught up and normal.....ha at least for the moment!

This Blog hopefully will capture our world over the next 8 months and beyond- and share it with you.

So it all began one Tuesday morning when Ben was @ Kosama, I was headed to Walgreens to pick up some Axe and face lotion for Troy....I wonder upon a Value Pack of Walgreens brand pregnancy tests- 5 for $25!  I decide what the hell!  I purchase them...head home to get ready for my day...decide to take one out of the box and pee on the stick (our KC weekend was a few weeks back and well...that was the "1st Try".  So I set the pregnancy test on the back of the toilet....walk away to tidy up a bit and head back in the bathroom~ I can remember saying out loud "Holy Shit he nailed it on the first Try!"  I start smiling...and decide well, this is a generic Walgreens brand I might want to utilize my value pack and try a few more tests to see if they match!  YEP ALL 3 THAT MORNING WERE POSITIVE!  Pretty sure I'm pregnant at this point I decide to call Ben at work- I asked him to go out to the car where it's quiet and where the music isn't blaring....he refuses....and I just decide- here's goes nothing.  "Ben, your going to be a daddy!"  You could immediately hear him grin from ear to ear, he starts jumping around and repeatedly says "holy shit!"......"omg I'm so excited I have to tell someone!"  "Who can I tell?"  After lots of careful thoughts we decide Diane!  So......we 3 way call her and drop the bomb!  After a big huge scream.....(in a good way)....she gets back on the phone and chews our ass for "this annoucement not being in person so she could hug us!" :)

Needless to say~ this began our very amazing journey to parenthood.  We scheduled a appointment with the OB the next day only to confirm that Walgreens generic brand really does work!  And were told our due date is Halloween- just 5 days after Troy's birthday!  That night- which seemed like an eternity- we waited for Troy to get home from work~ and spilled the beans!  Probably the funniest shit ever~ after he said "no way" a couple times and "quit effing with me", he turns to Ben and says, "You really knocked up my mom?"  LOL! Typical Teenager!  He proceeds to become super excited and the calling of the family members and Facebook posts begin! Most of you, I'm sure, found out thru Facebook....only because Troy, Diane and my cousin Steph beat Ben and I to it!

Well fam, don't want to Blog a novel the first day out, but that is the beginning of our story- who knows where it will end!  Can't wait to find out!  Our first ultrasound is set for Wed 3/9 so stay tuned for our next post!  Can't wait to share this amazing blessing from God with all our family and friends!

Lots of Love~
~ Ben, Shannon and "Baby B"
