We arrive at our first OB appointment today @ 1:20pm~ after a series of questions from our nurse, some blood draws, etc that all new mommy's experience....we headed to the ultrasound room.
We tried to see the little one from the outside, but beings that I have a tipped uterus (evidently... lol) they had to use the "wand"....to which my man was just itching to make sexual comments about. :) Needless to say we established that HE NAILED IT ON THE SECOND TRY, NOT THE FIRST....and I am about 4 weeks along as apposed to 6! Ha Ha Ben! :) Those man bullets are impressive but not made of steal! He laughs and blames it on me of course~ ahh our relationship is just cute!
We couldn't see much from the ultrasound as you can tell~ except the place that the very lil one is growing (called the gestational sack)...our next ultrasound is in 4 weeks on April 6th~ the day before we leave for Florida! They better be sending me off with good news! My doc did however take my blood, and will give me a call tomorrow (thank God) with my hcg levels~ to ensure me they are is ok and increasing as they should. She delivered Troy 15 years ago and knows I am "the nervous type"!
*Note we did have a moment where we had a visit to the ER 2 weeks back- the ER PA said my blood levels were at 4 weeks then. Long story short- my hcg/blood levels were pretty high for a mom only in her 2nd week/ not 4th @ that time! Hmm....still hoping for just one! :)
Me being the hormonal mess that I am.... and not getting to see the heartbeat or my little peanut for that matter~ cried, asked a billion questions today like "is everything ok?", was offered a kleenex~ only for my doc to ensure me that all is ok, she's not worried.... and explained this happens frequently (that the exact day the mom thinks she conceived is too early and it ends up not being "on schedule" as previously thought).
So Baby B will more than likely be a November baby as apposed to Halloween....and in 4 weeks at our next ultrasound we will get to hear the heartbeat and get measured for a more exact due date. Troy predicts, 11-11-11!
**Question to my new moms out there....did you opt for the pregnancy screens to determine Downs Syndrom and other chromosomal abnormalities? Our gut is telling us no because is it really going to change anything? No. We will have the baby regardless. Lots of "scares" that as a 18 year mom I was not as sensitive to.**
We are praying lots, learning how to give this whole new mommy thing to God~ as He is the creator of life~ not us~ I am just his vessel. Please keep us in your prayers as we go thru this exciting, yet stressful journey to parenthood!
Love,
Ben, Shannon and Baby B!
**PS: MY HAPPIEST MOMENT OF THE DAY WAS WHEN I CAME HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE TO FIND BEN, CUDDLED UP IN BED READING ONE OF MY PREGNANCY BOOKS~ (PINK COVER AND ALL). JENNY MCARTHY'S "BELLY LAUGHS"! Where did I find this guy? Amazing!
Out of this whole blog my fav part is Ben reading that baby book! He is going to be such a great father! I can't wait to hear his reaction to the baby's heartbeat on your next dr visit. And if I am calculating correctly... doesn't this mean Baby B could of been conceived on your birthday??? HEHE
ReplyDeleteLizzy yes in fact to the exact date! :) Approx 1:00pm in the afternoon! LOL....didn't realize it until you said something. lol happy birthday to me! What a bday present!
